The practice of Helena Her (b. 1983, Ensenada, Mexico) is rooted in social dialogue and in creating openings within everyday life that invite multiple readings of reality. Their practice explores the social possibilities of very small artworks through intimacy, participation, and shared encounters. Working at a reduced scale invites close attention and personal engagement, allowing meaning to emerge collectively through subtle interactions and individual reflection. Rooted in lived experience and social realities, the work resists direct statements, instead creating space for ambiguity and quiet connection. They are increasingly drawn to textiles, fabrics, and threads as materials connected to the body, care, labour, and domestic histories. Through softness, fragility, repetition, and miniature gestures, their work investigates how tenderness and relational exchange can exist within modest, tactile forms.
