jana jacob
Jana Jacob (b. 1982, Weingarten, Germany) is an artist whose work explores intimate, often private moments of human existence. Educated at the State Academy of Fine Arts in Stuttgart and the École nationale supérieure d'arts de Paris-Cergy, her works oscillate between self-representation, latent exhibitionism, and voyeurism, exploring the tension between vulnerability and the urge for visibility. In her new series She Wore Blue Velvet, Jana Jacob focuses on the “blue counterpart”—an object that appears in changing forms: as sensual velvet, a curtain or an air mattress. This object of desire plays with deep longings for closeness and security.
