Valeria Solari (b.1979, Villa Alemana, Chile) is a Berlin-based artist developing her own biomaterials from algae and microorganisms as the foundation for works in installation, sculpture, painting, and moving image. In her work there is a deep engagement with living matter, not as passive substance, but as an agent with its own processes and cycles. Through experimental techniques, she cultivates and transforms these organisms, exploring the intimate relationship between the human hand and nonhuman life. Her practice reflects an urgency to reconnect with the natural world and the invisible systems that sustain it, the microbial, the cellular, the ecological. She investigates growth, transformation, and decay as a common condition across living beings, materials, and ecosystems, proposing more-than-human ways of understanding.
