With Juancar

U8 Haus Creative Painting Studio: Intermediate is a six-month program for people with some drawing and painting experience who want to build on their skills, try new techniques and explore different ways of painting.

Across 11 guided sessions, you’ll explore drawing and painting through practical demonstrations, playful exercises and individual feedback from artist Juancar. You’ll work with materials such as acrylic paint, charcoal and markers, exploring colour, texture, shape, proportion and composition through observation and by working from reference images of your choice.

Whether you want to explore ways of painting beyond realistic representation or experiment with different approaches to image-making, this program offers the time and guidance to try new things, enjoy the process and develop your own style.

Module 1 · Expressive Painting
3 sessions · January 19, February 2 & February 16
Learn expressive techniques and discover new ways of painting everyday objects. Experiment with different ways of arranging and combining elements to create dynamic and engaging images.

Module 2 · A Different Way of Seeing
4 sessions · March 2, March 16, March 30 & April 13
Explore new ways of painting portraits and still lifes beyond realistic representation. Experiment with colour, shapes and composition to express emotions, explore ideas and put your own personal spin on familiar subjects.

Module 3 · Personal Project
4 sessions · April 27, May 11, May 25 & June 8
Develop your own series of artworks, from initial ideas and experiments to a more cohesive body of work. You’ll receive individual feedback throughout the process and have the opportunity to present your work in a group exhibition at U8 Haus.

Meet your instructor

Juan-Carlos Rosa-Casasola (Juancar, he/him) is a Berlin-based artist and painting instructor whose practice connects drawing, painting and experimental approaches to image-making. He holds a degree in Fine Arts with honours from the Universitat Politècnica de València and has completed postgraduate studies in art production, multimedia art and creative design.

In his classes, Juancar combines artistic foundations with playful experimentation and individual feedback. His aim is to help participants build confidence, explore different approaches and develop their own creative expression in a welcoming, supportive environment.
